Multi-step forms
Multi-step forms split a long form into short pages with a progress bar, which usually improves completion rates. They are a Pro feature.
Lite and Pro
In Lite the Number of Steps setting is locked to 1 and every form is a single page, on the new-form screen and in the form’s Settings tab. With Pro active it is editable.
Creating a multi-step form
- In Form Builder, click New Form (or edit an existing one).
- Set Number of Steps to 2 or more. “1 = single page, 2+ = multi-step progress bar.”
- Add your fields. Each field has a Step # that says which page it appears on.
- Save and preview the form.
Planning your steps
- Start with the easy questions (name, email) to build momentum.
- Put optional or sensitive questions on later steps.
- Group related fields together on the same step.
- Keep every step to three or four fields.
Things to know
- A field set to a step number higher than the form’s step count will not display, so raise the step count first.
- The Required and Step badges on each field card update as soon as you change them.
- Conditional logic still works across steps. See Conditional logic.
