Paid downloads
Paid downloads (Pro) turn a gated file into a product. Buyers pay through Stripe, Paystack or Flutterwave, then receive the file. AcquisitionSuite takes no commission on your sales.
Before you start
- Activate your Pro license. See Activating your license.
- Connect at least one gateway under Payment Settings: Stripe, Paystack or Flutterwave.
- Confirm your site uses HTTPS.
Making a file paid
- Go to Upload Files and add a file (an upload, or an external URL), or open an existing one.
- In the file’s payment options set it to paid and enter the price.
- Choose the payment gateway buyers will use.
- Set Download Expiry (hours) (0 = never expires) and Download Limit (0 = unlimited).
- Optionally set a Purchase Button Label so the button says what you want.
- Save and place the shortcode on a page as usual. See Placing forms and files.
What the buyer experiences
- They click the purchase button and fill in the form (name and email at minimum).
- They are sent to the gateway’s secure checkout and pay.
- The gateway tells your site the payment succeeded (see Payment webhooks).
- The order is marked paid and a lead is created or updated.
- The buyer sees your success screen and receives a payment email with their download.
Behind the scenes
A successful payment also fires your Payment Successful and Paid Download automation triggers, adds points to any event-based scoring rules, and shows up under Orders & transactions.
Externally hosted files
You can sell an external URL (a video course on Vimeo, a Google Drive folder) with the same flow. The buyer gets a signed link to it after paying.
Selling forms, not files
To charge for an appointment or registration with no file involved, see Paid standalone forms.
Discount price
A paid download can have an optional discount price. Enter it under Discount Price (optional) in the file’s pricing settings (Files → Manage Pricing), or in a Lead Funnel that sells the file. It must be lower than the price.
- The download shows the regular price crossed out beside the discount price, with the percent saved.
- Checkout charges the discount price, and the order records the amount that was charged.
- Clear the field to go back to the regular price. A blank or zero discount means no discount, not a free file.
- Paid standalone forms do not have a discount price.
