Uploading files

The Upload Files screen is where every gated file starts. It is available on every plan, including Lite.

Adding a file

  1. Go to AcquisitionSuite → Upload Files.
  2. Enter a File Title. This is the name you (and your leads) see in the admin, the popup and the email.
  3. Choose the File Source: Upload File to store the file on your server, or External URL to gate a link to a file hosted elsewhere (see URL-gated files).
  4. For an upload, drag a file onto the drop area or click to choose one. For an external URL, paste the link.
  5. Choose which form gates the file: the built-in Default form or one of your own custom forms.
  6. Click Upload & Gate File.

What happens to an uploaded file

The file is validated against the allowed file types, then moved into a protected folder that blocks direct access. Visitors can never reach it by guessing a URL; they only receive a temporary signed download link after submitting the form. See Protected directory security.

Getting the shortcode

Every file in the Uploaded Files list has a shortcode such as [acquis_download id="123"]. Copy it and paste it into any page, post, widget or page-builder shortcode block. Options are covered in Shortcode basics.

Large files

Uploads are limited by your server’s upload_max_filesize and post_max_size settings, which System Status shows. For very large files such as video courses, host the file on Google Drive, Dropbox, Vimeo or your CDN and use an external URL instead.

With Pro you can also mark a file as paid, set a price, and sell it. See Paid downloads.
