SMTP setup
By default WordPress sends mail through your web server’s basic mail function, which most inbox providers distrust. For reliable delivery of download links, receipts and sequence emails, route mail through a proper SMTP or transactional email service.
Why it matters
- Server mail often lacks the authentication receivers require, so messages land in spam or are rejected.
- Many hosts throttle or disable the mail function entirely.
- A dedicated service gives you delivery reports you can act on.
Steps
- Pick a sending service: your hosting email, Brevo, Mailgun, Amazon SES, Postmark, SendGrid, Google Workspace and so on.
- Install an SMTP plugin from the WordPress directory (for example WP Mail SMTP, FluentSMTP or Post SMTP) and connect it to that service.
- Use a From address on a domain you control, and set up the SPF, DKIM and (ideally) DMARC records your provider asks for.
- In AcquisitionSuite, set Settings → Email: Delivery → From Email to that same address. The From address should match your SMTP sending domain.
- Click Send Test Email, then check the inbox and the spam folder.
Checking it works
Submit a real form, then look at Email Logs for a Sent entry and confirm the email arrived. System Status also reports whether an SMTP plugin is detected. See System Status.
If emails still fail
- Confirm your SMTP credentials and port with the provider.
- Make sure your From address is verified with the provider.
- Check your plugin’s own log for authentication errors.
